Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of the Broken Link Checker Ultimate Chrome extension and this website. By installing or using the extension, you agree to them.

What the service is

Broken Link Checker Ultimate checks whether links on a web page or website still work, and reports what it finds. A free tier is available, and a paid Pro tier adds whole-site crawling, scheduled monitoring, exports and the optional Google integrations.

Your account

You need an account to use the extension. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity on your account. One account is for one person; please do not share sign-in details.

Acceptable use

Scanning a website sends requests to it, so use the extension only on sites you own or have permission to check. In particular, you agree not to:

• use it to overload, disrupt or attack any website,
• use it to scan sites where you have been asked not to, or where doing so would break that site's terms,
• circumvent the extension's rate limits, tier limits or the robots.txt handling,
• resell or redistribute the extension, or present its output as another product.

The extension limits itself to two requests per site at a time and honours robots.txt and any crawl delay, but you remain responsible for the sites you choose to scan.

Payment, renewal and refunds

Pro is sold as a monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime licence, handled by our payment processor, Freemius. Card details go to Freemius and never reach us.

• Monthly subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the Freemius customer portal, and keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for.
• Refunds are handled under the Freemius refund policy in force at the time of purchase. If something is not working as described, email us first — we would rather fix it.
• Prices may change, but a change never applies to a period you have already paid for.

Google integrations

Connecting Google Search Console or using the page speed checks is optional. Where the extension uses Google APIs, that use follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. You can disconnect at any time, from the extension or from your Google account. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Availability

We aim to keep the service running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Features that depend on third parties — Google, our payment processor, our email provider — can be affected by those services. Scanning itself runs in your own browser and keeps working without our servers; only sign-in, subscription checks, emailed reports and the Google integrations need them.

Accuracy of results

A link check reflects what the target server returned at that moment. Some servers block automated requests, rate-limit them, or answer differently for a browser than for a checker, which is why such links are reported as unverified rather than broken. Suggested fixes are suggestions; please review them before changing your site. We are not liable for changes you make based on the output.

Liability

The extension is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost data, lost revenue, or damage arising from your use of the extension. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits any right you have under consumer law that cannot be limited by agreement.

Ending your use

You can stop at any time by removing the extension and, if you wish, asking us to delete your account. We may suspend or end an account that breaks these terms, particularly the acceptable use section.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the date at the top will change with them, and significant changes will be noted in the extension's release notes. Continuing to use the extension after a change means you accept the updated terms.
